A world where one can sample a quiet aristocratic lifestyle. Quinta de Santa Catarina is a large Manor House furnished with sixteenth century furniture which was the 'modern' furniture in the days when the house was built. Guests have the use of one of the lounges, the dining room and the piano room. There are five large guest bedrooms with 16th Century beds. All the bedrooms have ensuite facilities. Three have baths and the other two have showers. Quinta de Santa Catarina is set in beautiful gardens. Outside one walks through an area of large trees to a lawned area with a swimming pool with a modern building providing the facilities, changing room etc. As you look at the trees in the background it is hard to appreciate that all this is in the middle of the town of Lourinha. Breakfast, which is included in the price, is taken in the dining room. Your friendly host teaches language at a local school and enjoys the opportunity to practice with the guests she receives from many countries. Three kilometers away is the Atlantic coast with its long sandy beaches whilst the attractive walled town of Óbidos is only 25 minutes away by car. The fishing ports of Nazaré and Peniche are also nearby and the colourful scenes and good restaurants make them attractive destinations. Lisbon is 60 kilometers to the south and the modern road system allows the journey to be completed in 50 minutes
