This beautiful private retreat is located at the southern tip of Costa Rica’s "Last Best [Osa] Peninsula". Enjoy the harmony of this pristine natural setting with virgin coastal rainforest and ocean beaches right at your doorstep.

Part of an ongoing reforestation project of Indian Almond Trees to support the endangered Scarlet Macaw, the Rancho has the first solar powered houses in the area.

Each house comes complete with kitchens and refrigeration, private baths connected to garden showers, electric lighting with bed-room fans, hammocks, an outdoor barbecue and, a cooling pool of creek water.

There are four bedrooms available in two houses, with two guests per room. One of the houses is a "Honeymoon Cabina" with a 360 degree veranda with a full view from forest to ocean, a moon deck, and comfortable chairs and hammocks.

The "Main Rancho" is also available as a private Honeymoon Suite for 2 for a slight additional charge.

Beautiful nature trails, abundant with unusual flora and fauna, lead from the Rancho in all directions. There are short hikes to a 20 meter waterfall, to the top of the Cape and through the dry coastal forest that runs adjacent to the numerous different beaches of Matapalo. In addition, Rancho Almendros also has excellent kayaking with guides, horseback riding, bird-watching, fishing, snorkeling, world-class surfing and catamaran charters available locally. English speaking naturalists and guides are available for tours of the cape.
