New Tip A great way to save money is to stay in a private home or condo. In San Diego for example, Mission Beach vacation rentals are a nice California Beach area option or if visiting Florida then Fort Myers Beach vacation rentals may help you save money there.

The United States is brimming with great vacation destinations; however, not everyone has the endless bank account required to visit some of the top spots in the land. Knowing this, we’ve compiled a list of the best places in the U.S. to vacation on a budget – a list of locations that are every bit as good as the top tourist attractions, but at half the price.
1.      Yellowstone National Park
Straddling the majestic Western states of Wyoming and Montana, Yellowstone National Park is one of the biggest bang-for-your-buck vacation spots for the simple fact that one very reasonable admission fee gains you access to the entire park (plus the neighboring Grand Teton National Park) for seven days! While the parks quaint hotels are extremely affordable, the park also boasts countless campsites to will help you skimp on cost while maximizing your outdoor experience.

2.      Portland, OR
There aren’t very many places in the United States that place you within 100-miles of mountains, oceans, deserts, lakes, canyons, cities and wide open country but beautiful Portland, OR is one of them. Offering the full arsenal of the Great Northwest for small town prices, Portland is celebrated for its casual culture, its microbrews and above all, with a city-wide mantra of Keep Portland Weird, its people watching.

3.      Nashville, TN
If live music and comfort foods are your idea of a good time, then Nashville, TN is the place for you. Lined with lively honky-tonk bars and lowbrow BBQ joints, Nashville (often referred to as Nash-Vegas) is widely known for its electric nightlife, two-for-one drink specials, good spirits and rural pricing in an urban setting.

4.      Southern Utah
Because Mars isn’t necessarily an affordable vacation destination, it’s safe to say that Southern Utah is the cheapest way to feel like you’re on Mars. Home of breathtaking national parks such as Zion, Canyonlands, Arches, Moab and countless others, southern Utah allows you extremely affordable access to the United States’ most bizarre landscapes.

5.      San Diego, CA
Few places in the United States can offer the sunshine and coastlines of San Diego, CA. A worthy carrier of the city slogan “Happy Happens,” a visit to the world famous Zoo or Seaworld is enough to keep any vacationer occupied – all for a reasonable fee. In addition, while hotels in San Diego can add up, by arranging your lodging through a third-party vacation rental agent, you’ll find that San Diego rentals and Mission Beach rentals can be more than kind on the budget.

6.      The Grand Canyon
While you’re visiting southern Utah, keep in mind that you’re within just a few short hours of one of the most notable natural wonders of the entire world – the Grand Canyon. Located just about 5-hours south of the Utah national parks, entering the Grand Canyon National Park is only about $25 per car – a nominal price for something that absolutely needs to be seen in person.

7.      Washington DC
While most would assume that any variety of an East Coast destination would drain the pocket book, Washington DC is a surprising exception. Accommodations within the city itself are very competitive (amongst the East Coast cities) but even better yet, the sightseeing of America’s most prized monuments are generally free!

8.      Fort Lauderdale
Florida is well known for its cheap cost of living and because Fort Lauderdale is no exception to the rule, it translates well as a bargain vacation spot. Located on the Caribbean, but not as trendy as Miami or the Keys, For Lauderdale affords you all the perks of an exotic beach vacation but at an extreme discount.

9.      Myrtle Beach, SC
While you’re going to want to avoid visiting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the summertime, due to the peak tourism season, it’s still a highly attractive and affordable beach vacation. Known for its pristine beaches and abundance of putt-putt golf, it’s a great place to take the whole family and not break the bank in the process.

10. Denver, CO
Although similar to Portland in its diverse outdoor offering, Denver, Colorado offers something that Portland cannot; an annual average of 300 days of sunshine. In addition to the many outdoor recreational activities, The Gateway to the Rockies has a number of other attractions such as the sensational Denver Zoo, the mile-long 16th Street Mall and a number of professional sports teams (depending on the time of year you visit). In all, Denver is a great place to plan a vacation and lucky for you, it will not cost you and arm and a leg.
