Costa Rica Caribbean Beaches

Barra del Colorado -

A 3 miles long, dark sand beach that generally has strong waves. Barre del Colorado is located between river Colorado and Samay Lagune. This isn't a very good beach for swimming as there is little vegetation and a bunch of driftwood. Located in the Barra del Colorado national reserve.

Bonita Beach-

A yellow sand beach with strong waves. Its a good surfing beach.

Cahuita Beach -

Is a two mile long beach, with parts that are good for swimming and others that are good for diving. The beach is located approximately 30 miles from Limon.

Manzanillo Beach -

Is a two mile long sand beach located between Punta Uva and Punta Manzanillo. This is a nice place to swim and dive. Costa Rica Manzanillo Beach

Tortuguero Beach-

The main attraction here are the turtles. Tortugero is located approximately 50 miles north of Limon. Tortuguero Beach

Avellanas Beach -

Brasilito Beach -

This grey sand beach, is approximately 1 mile long with medium waves. The beach is good for swimming.

Cabo Blanco Beach-

Cabuya Beach-

White sand beaches and rocky platforms. Located about 8 miles south of Cobano village near Puntarenas.

Conchal Beach-

This is a good spot for for snorkeling, water sports and boat trips.

Coyote Beach-

This is terrific beach swimming, surfing and observing nature .Located south of Carillo beach in Guanacaste.

Dominical Beach-

This is a beach with really strong waves and not very safe for swimming. Good surfing. About 18 miles from San Isidro del General.

Drake Bay Beach-

Gets its name from the pirate Francis Drake. It is a brown sand beach located at the North end of the Osa Peninsula.

Esterillos Beach-

An observation beach. Good for walking in nature. Located about 13 miles south from Jaco.

Flamingo Beach -

Black sand beach, This beach is half a mile long and a busy tourist spot. A good place for fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and a number of other water sports.

Grande Beach -

This 2 mile long sand beach with strong waves. Part of Las Baulas national park it is one of the most important beaches in the world for the nesting of the turtles. Good surfing. Loceated 28 miles from Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.

Playa Hermosa – Hermosa Beach

There are 2 beaches named Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica. One is in Guanacaste the other in Puntarenas

Playa Hermosa Beach– Guanacaste

Located approximately a 20 minute drive the airport in Liberia and 4 miles North of Coco Beach, this beach is among the most well kept beaches found anywhere in Costa Rica. Beautiful scenery and wonderfully clear clean water make this a must visit beach. The beach is a long gray sand beach approximately 1.25 miles in length and well suited for swimming, diving and boating. Beach toys are available for rent and this beach is generally not crowed offering a relaxing experience.

Playa Hermosa Beach – Puntarenas

While not a great swimming beach do to the waves and currents found here, Playa Hermosa in Puntarenas is one of the best and most consistent surf breaks anywhere. Located only a short distance from the town of Jaco, and the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose, this beach is truly for experienced surfers and not beginners. In August of each year the Quicksilver Surf Campianships are held here. The biggest waves are generally between April and November during incoming and high tides and reach heights of 12 plus feet.

Jaco Beach

Jaco is a great surfing beach though dangerous for swimming.

Junquillal Beach

very pretty beach with cyrstal clear waters and find sand. Located 15 miles from Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.

Langosta Beach

Good for walks and observation of nature. Visited by surfers.
Located 1 mile south of Tamarindo beach in Guanacaste.

Manuel Antonio - long white sand beach, 4 miles from Quepos, wide public beach as well as a few very nice small ones inside the national park.

Nosara Beach

Nosara is a paradise of flowers and plants with several beaches, seperated by rocks. Located 15 miles from Samara beach in Guanacaste.

Playa Ocotal

Ocatal is a very pretty area, located 2 miles south of Coco beach.

Portrero Beach

White sand beach, 3 miles long with small waves. Loceated 35 miles from Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.

Tamarindo

very beautiful part of Costa Rica.
