Originally a small rustic farm cottage, rebuilt and modernised whilst retaining all its Spanish flavour, with facilities to provide you with a home from home.

We are 5 minutes by car from Orgiva, the capital of Las Alpujarras, a national Park in Andaulcia on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada in Southern Spain, and 10 minutes from the spa town of Lanjarron.

The whole area is abundant with natural beauty, the Moors who ruled in the 12th century, believed that this was the paradise promised to them by Allah.

With 325 days of sunshine every year, the cleanest area of Europe, the riotous colours of flowers, and scents of the natural herbs have an allure of their own. Marianne likens it to Scotland with sunshine!

El Galeon is in the hamlet of Galeon in Las Bararass, and 2000 feet above sea level. Granada is 50 minutes away, the ski resorts a further 20 minutes and the secluded beaches only 40 minutes southwards on the Mediterranean.

Swimming is usually between April and October but for the stoic is available all year round! On the huge surrounding patio area we have created large expanses of shade sun-loungers and a gas fired easy clean Barbeque. Master bedroom with full en-suite facilitiesdouble bed and fitted wardrobes with large storage and hanging space.Fully fitted bathroomshared by bedrooms 2 & 3.Large lounge and dining room and compact stereo systemso bring some CDs or tapes of your choice. Bedroom 2 with double bed and fitted wardrobes.OUTSIDE: There are large gardens and car parking facilitiesand terraces all around the property including roof terraces for stargazing! The pool is 10 x 4 metres with a maximum depth of 2 metres and shallow end of 1.5 metreswith shower facilities. A full anode ionisation system means no sore eyessparkling pure water with very high and stable levels of purity. The pool is heated by passive solar energy via the pumping system. Be safe near the pool especially with children. Melamine and plastic utensils are provided for the pool area. The villa and gardens have an area of some 2,500 sq. metres in total seclusion and not overlooked. All rooms enjoy spectacular views.
Towels and bed linen are all provided, but please provide your own beach/pool towels.
A welcome pack will be available for all immediate essentials.
The low season, November to February is very pleasant, with beautifully clear warm sunny days. If you venture to higher altitudes, the mountain villages, Sierra Navadas and Granada then it can be chilly. You will need warm clothing and suncream. The villa is heated for your comfort in the evenings, wrap up warm if you want to stargaze.

Local facilities and activities
The town of Orgiva has all the facilities such as banks, shops, restaurants and cafes. There are local supermarkets, but all close on Sunday.

In Granada, the ancient Moorish capital of Spain, you will find the world famous Alhambra Palace with its breathtaking gardens (bookings can be made in advance).
