This is a small cottage situated in an ancient fortified village and is an excellent base from which to explore this region of France.

It has considerable character and provides comfortable and well equipped accommodation for two people in a friendly typical rural French village with all amenities nearby.

There is an open plan lounge/dining area/kitchen and upstairs a double bedroom with ample wardrobe space, small shower room with washbasin and WC.

The village is small, about 3000+ population, and is well served by its many shops and a supermarket on the outskirts. This historic village dates back to Roman times and the Via Domitia and has been written about from the 10th Century onwards, as pilgrims used to pass by on their way to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain.

The surrounding countryside is rural, mostly vineyards producing excellent wines which are now much sought after worldwide. A perfect location for wine buffs!

English friends who live nearby look after the cottage for us and besides being key-holders also offer a "meet and greet service" once you arrive at the village.
Over the yearsvarious people have stayed including CanadiansAmericansAustralians and New Zealanders as well as EuropeansBritishGerman etc. Some of whom have returned for repeat visits.
We do ask guests to keep it tidy and to clean up after themselves as there is no cleaning service provided.
Attractions

The cottage is very well situated to explore the many nearby ancient towns of Agde, Sete, Montpellier and the Mediterranean beaches which are only 10 kms away. Nearby is the 'L'Etang de Thau' famous for its shellfish and seafood. To the North are the Cevenne Hills with their own beautiful scenery, lakes, gorges and cave - to the East is the famous Camargue region and to the West the Spanish border and the Costa Brava all within easy reach.

There are many markets with a wide selection of local produce - also the "Caves" where you can select wine at much reduced prices - just go along and take your bottle or canister and pay by the litre.
