Welcome to our Manuel Antonio home, a fully-staffed, 5-bedroom, 5-bath luxury Villa and Guest House in an unusually private and beautiful setting bordering the 50-meter Maritime Protection Zone.
The Villa and Guest House are perched above the Pacific, with ever present sea breezes and sounds of surf crashing below. Our beach (Playa la Macha), which is usually deserted, is just a 10-minute walk from the Villa.
Ours is the only residence in Manuel Antonio with a cove all to itself and one of the few close enough to the water to hear the surf crashing against the rocks.
The views of the ocean and sunset from the Villa are breathtaking. Wildlife and tropical flowers abound on our property and in the surrounding rainforest.
Monkeys, countless birds, and an occasional sloth are regular visitors to nearby trees and are easily spotted from the Villa or our terraces and swimming pool. .
Built just four years ago, the house is of the finest construction in teak, cedar, almond, and terra cotta, all sited in beautiful landscaped grounds.
Each bedroom has a view, a king or queen bed, its own bathroom, and a writing desk. Two of the bedrooms have their own living areas, in addition to the bright and breezy main living space.
Villa La Macha is located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful coastal areas, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. An almost endless string of secluded coves and tropical beaches and the charming, well-supplied town of Quepos are minutes away.
Five miles down the road is a jewel of this ecologically sensitive country, Manuel Antonio National Park. The waters offshore offer some of the best marlin and sailfish sport fishing in the world.
Villa La Macha is handsomely furnished in teak furniture and original artworks and provides a beautiful home for families, small wedding parties, and groups of friends to share. We have two small children, so we can provide anything from cribs to puzzles.
We live in the house six weeks per year and continuously maintain it to our very high standards. We have added all the amenities you could want for a perfect vacation, including fine sheets, towels and china, our favorite spa shampoos and soaps, a Bose Wave stereo, DirecTV, a fax, two phone lines, a library of 150 of our favorite books, and a booklet we wrote recommending for our guests our favorite restaurants, beaches, masseuses, and tours.
But without question the Villa's finest amenity is its staff. Jamie and Cecilia provide full housekeeping, concierge, maintenance, gardening and laundry services seven days a week and will cook authentic Costa Rican dishes for you every day. Fresh fish caught daily, quality meats and delicious tropical fruits are plentiful in the local markets.
Villa La Macha is special, which is why we chose it for our home. We think it will be special for you too and invite you to read guest comments on our website - www.villalamacha.com. We've been gratified that in the year we've been renting the house, 100% of our renters have taken the time to write us tell how how much they enjoyed their stay with us.

Quepos / Manuel Antonio is truly a natural paradise and you will never be bored here, no matter what your level of energy.
The area is an idyllic place to relax and unwind or partake of an endless range of outdoor sports and activities.
There are, by our count, 10 beaches in the immediate area (and hundreds within easy driving distance). The water is about 85 degrees, and different beaches offer different wave characteristics, ranging from calm and glassy (good for young children) to very active surf that is fun for both body and board surfing.
Some of the more active options include vvhitewater rafting, ocean and mangrove kayaking, rainforest canopy ziplines, jet ski coastal tours. parasailing, mountain biking, horseback riding on the beach or to rainforest waterfalls, surfing or body surfing, jogging, hiking, swimming, and sport fishing. All of these sports offer a range of challenge from easy to vigorous. A beautiful golf course is located at a Mariott property about an hour's drive from Villa La Macha.
Bird-watching expeditions, trips to a botanical butterfly garden, and sunset cruises are other outdoor options in the area. Excellent therapeutic masseurs and masseuses are available to give you a restorative massage at Villa La Macha.
Two exhilarating and informative rainforest experiences are available for the whole family, except for very young children. These are the Rainmaker tour and the Zipline tour.
Rainmaker provides lunch and guided walks on a trail that climbs through a 1,500-acre private reserve in a mountain range near Quepos. A system of rope bridges suspended from tree trunks (constructed to U.S. bridge engineering codes) enable visitors to walk from platform to platform across the canopy of the rainforest. Some of the bridges are up to 300 feet long and the experience is very exciting. A large variety of animal life can be viewed from the treetops and on the well-constructed trail. After descending, visitors can swim in a crystal clear river, after which a typical Costa Rican lunch is provided.
The Zip Line tour is much less informative but a great deal of fun. Steel cables are strung from tree to tree in a private rainforest preserve. A harness and pulley are attached to each person and you step off platforms lashed to trees to zip across the rainforest canopy, Tarzan-like.
Sport fishing in the waters off Quepos is among the best in the world. The prime fishing season is December to April and marlin and sailfish are the two major targets. Dorado, wahoo, amberjack and yellowfin tuna are also plentiful. More than 40 fully equipped sport fishing boats of various sizes are available for charter, most year around, for fishing, sightseeing, snorkeling or diving. Most captains are very experienced and know where to find the fish, and we can recommend our personal favorites among the captains.
There are several good Spanish language schools of offering half-day classes on a weekly basis. One school will send a teacher to Villa La Macha to give private lessons.
