Montecucco lies a 20 minute drive from the castle of Vivo d'Orcia in the direction of Montalcino. It stands on its own and benefits of complete privacy. The house is reached by a 4 km country road. The next village is Castelnuovo at a 10 minute drive away (8 Km).

The old stone farmhouse dates back to the 18th century, having evolved over the centuries to what it is today, a charming building with many hooks and corners, perched above a widish valley with a fine view of olive groves and vineyards, and the charming hilltop village of Colle Sant'Angelo, a fraction of the famous wine town Montepulciano.

"Vivo d'Orcia is not a place, it is a way of life..." The Castle of Vivo d'Orcia lies in the widespread Orcia valley in southern Tuscany, 2 hours from Florence, 1 hour from Siena, close to such cultural jewels as Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano, to name but a few.

A pope's refuge: the estate with the impressive castle and the romanic chapel reaches back to the 11th century. The humble hermitage was transformed into a sophisticated and well-organised agricultural center when Cardinal Marcello Cervini, later Pope Marcello II, acquired the estate in 1534. The property is still owned by the family today. Count Marcello Cervini and his wife Amarilli spend most of the summer months in residence as attentive and interesting hosts. Incidentally, their castle was featured in the jan. 2005 issue of THE WORLD OF INTERIORS.

A local lady will prepare the most deliscious meals for youwe can arrange a first grocery shopping and further household helpas well as a meal on the evening of your arrivala baby cot and a high chair. Mobile phone available upon request. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. The decoration of the house is full of tastemostly using textiles from a Tuscan weavery located near Arezzo.

The pool measures 4x15 meters and is equipped with deck chairs and sun beds. An outdoor showeras well as a pergola for shade will make this area the center of your outdoor life.

In front of the kitchen door an wine covered pergola with table and chairs for outdoor meals looks out over the wide and open valley.
The large living room with open fireplace lies on the first floor of the house and leads onto 3 of the 4 bedrooms.

The hamlet Vivo D'Orcia lies at an altitude of 900 m above sea level. The particular combination of altitude and meditteranean climate creates an unusual whealth of flora and fauna. Many wild animals such as deer, wild boar and foxes as well as the most deliscious truffles call the Monte Amiata their home.
