Built in the 1960’s by Dorothy and Oscar Hammerstein, Highland House is an exquisite estate home uniquely designed for entertaining small gatherings while still providing individual privacy.
The six bedrooms are privately located under four separate roofs-all accessed by connecting steps and pathways. Each bedroom is individually themed and decorated, yet blend together to provide a sense of oneness.
The public areas continue this approach of something for everyone. From the pool terrace, a spiral stairway leads to the rooftop sundeck where you will enjoy breathtaking views of Montego Bay. You will also be able to relax in the chaise lunges, thatched umbrella table for shaded lunches. This is the perfect spot for activities as varied as sunrise yoga and sunset cocktails. The downstairs features a wet bar with pool table and games.
A stroll of the 17-acre estate grounds is, to say the least, a botanical feast. The varieties of vegetation and wild life are boundless and would take days to chronicle. Suffice it to say, there is enough flora and fauna to keep the most avid of birdwatcher or amateur gardener enthralled.
The 7,000 square foot estate is conveniently located 15 miles from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport. The Highland House property is part of an area known as Content, in the parish of St. James. Content has a rich history as it was formerly owned by the Royal Windsor Family. Content is an area located in the mountains, the land is spread over 200 acres of coconut plantations and bamboo forest.
