7 km east of Siena

Podere Olivo used to be the school building for a small, independent 18th century property, near Siena. It served a nearby villa and a few farms belonging to the estate, all of which have now been renovated. Podere Olivo still belongs to a member of this old-established family and has recently been lovingly and carefully restored by the owner, to form a comfortable private home for her own use. It is now available as a holiday home.

The house has been renovated with great skill. The typical Tuscan structural elements, with terracotta floors, brick archways and open wooden ceilings, have been preserved. Another typical regional feature are the painted friezes, which decorate the ocre-colored facade under the gables and portray wooden beams. There is a shared tennis court, only a short walk (300m) down the path, into the olive groves. Mountain bikes can also be hired nearby or a wine tour taken in the Chianti region.
And last but not least, an excellent and very reasonably priced evening meal can be ordered – enjoy a dinner in your own home after a long day sightseeing. This property provides relaxing countryside peace and tranquility and is still near to Siena. It is ideally situated for excursions around the Chianti region or to Florence. A good walk (approx. 2 km) takes one to San Giovanni, where there is a restaurant/pizzeria. A supermarket can be found in Taverna d`Arbia, 4 km away. The best butcher and confectioner in Siena can be found in Due Ponti, approx. 2 km distance. It is convenient to park the car here and take a bus directly to the center of Siena.

Enjoy plenty of privacy and outstanding views: situated next to a former oil mill, Podere Olivo is bordered by olive trees on three sides; the property is enclosed with a fence and can be accessed through electronic gates. A drive leads through the olive groves, to the house. A generous terracotta terrace borders the eastern side of the house, directly in front of the large living and dining room. A linen umbrella shades the round dining table and chairs – the view stretches over the olive groves and surrounding countryside.

The southern side of the house provides another seated area: a shady pergola, in front of the second, smaller living room, is equally as inviting. Rambling roses border a small table with benches – the view is once again of greenery. A path leads across the lawn, past rosemary bushes, to a lower stone terrace. This contains a large pool with outdoor shower. Lie back and enjoy the sun and beautiful countryside in wonderful seclusion.

Readers may be interested to know that this lovely region also attracted Richard Wagner. During his tour of Italy he stayed at the neighboring villa in September 1880!

1 dining area with long wooden table.
1 L-shaped living room with two sofa areas, one of which is in front of the fireplace (radio-CD player); glass doors open onto the terrace.
1 guest bathroom.
1 second living room with seating for 4 people and fitted kitchen (4-hob cooker, oven, fridge and freezer compartment, dishwasher and double sink); this room has a glass front looking out onto the countryside and with direct access to the rose-covered pergola. The different rooms on the ground floor are joined via open archways.
Upper floor:
1 double room with en-suite bathroom (bath). 1 twin-bed room with bathroom (shower).
1 twin-bed room with en-suite bathroom (shower).
2 twin-bed rooms (which can also be arranged as double beds), one with en-suite bathroom (shower), the other with bathroom (bath) on the landing. All bedrooms are equipped with fans and fly screens.
