There is no phone at the villanor a public phone nearbybut there is an international call box in the main square in Cómpeta. If you require a phone on sitetake a dual band mobile phone set up for international roaming; there is surprisingly good reception at the villa. The villa is a TV-free zone!

Cómpeta is one of the most attractive whitewashed villages in Andalucia. Set approximately 600 metres above sea level in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, the village remains intrinsically Spanish and has a few shops and several excellent restaurants.

The region offers beautiful scenery with mountains, an adjacent national park, clear seas, lovely beaches and many places of interest. Nerja is about 16 km away, with beaches and pre-historic caves. Granada, Seville, Gibraltar and the busier resorts of the Costa Del Sol are all readily accessible.

Sports/leisure activities, including walking, climbing, horse-riding and golf are available nearby. The nearest golf courses are at Torre Del Mar and Rincon de Victoria. There is a large number of high quality golf courses within easy reach near Málaga. Contact numbers for local courses or for a reliable booking agency can be supplied, if required.

Tennis courts are available to hire at the Hotel Balcon, in Cómpeta, but for keener tennis players there are excellent facilities at the Lew Hoad Tennis Centre near Mijas.
The area is ideal for walking in Autumn, Winter and Spring and 2 local companies organise guided walks.
Skiing is also possible in the Sierra Nevada in winter (about 2 hours)
