Like most of Siena this house was built using traditional red bricks. Recently redecorated and designed and furnished by the owner, it stands as a perfect example of simple elegance. She has done her work magnificently. The furniture has been chosen with impeccable taste in harmony with the style of the apartment and the fabrics are of good quality. Originally she had established a private residence here - now she makes the apartment available for travellers: an atmospheric ambience designed with loving care for details.

Modern frescoes in pale colours decorate several walls and doors. There are several large windows - the rooms are filled with light. There is a roomy living area with a piano, sofa and armchairs, dining corner and a large glass door leading to a private terrace. The small study with a desk at the window is inviting, and the kitchen is well equipped and tastefully furnished akin to the rest of the house. There are two bedrooms: one double room with access to the garden and a small single room with an additional bed, which can be transformed into a double room on request, albeit a very small one. Each bedroom has a tasteful en suite bathroom, and direct access from the living room and the bedroom to the garden adds extra convenience.

In front of the apartment there is a private terrace facing the large garden with various types of greenery, including a plethora of bushes and flowers. The terrace invites one to eat outdoors and enjoy the beautiful view over the rolling Sienese hills.
The house is nestled among fields and olive groves where you can purchase home-made organically grown olive oil. The apartment is located in a side part of the estate; the adjoining main part is occupied by the owner and her guests.

The house is situated near a narrow road in a quiet place. The residential area surrounding Santa Emilia is one of the best in Siena. There are worthwhile art monuments only a stone's throw away: e.g. Castello Belcaro (1 km), renovated by the renowned Renaissance architect Baldassare Peruzzi, or Eremo di Lecceto (3 km), a former Augustinian hermitage now occupied by cloistered nuns (if you walk past at 12.15 p.m. or 9 p.m. you can hear them singing). The quiet town of Siena can be reached without the necessity of a car. A bus stop is only 1.2 km away, and buses run every 20 minutes. On your way to the bus stop you can enjoy the picturesque landscape spread out before your eyes. The nearest restaurant is within walking distance (400 m), and the drive to the magnificent white sand beaches in the national park of the Maremma takes one hour. Santa Emilia itself does not have a swimming pool, but there is a sportclub a 5-minute drive down the road: there you find a pool, a small golf course and a tennis court.
