Corozal, Osa Peninsula is located only 2 kilometers south of Puerto Jimenez. This small ranching community is what rural Costa Rica is all about. Made up of maybe only a dozen or so inhabitants (mostly Ticos and a handful of foreigners), Corozal is real cowboy country but with an Osa jungle twist. Even though Corozal is only 2 kilometers from Puerto Jimenez, it feels like you are miles and miles away. From Casa Corozal you can watch the local ranchers herding their cows down the middle of the main road that passes in front of our rental property practically everyday. Bird watching/wildlife viewing can be done right from the property as many animals frequent the property and local area. Scarlet Macaws, Morpho Butterflies, toucans, and, on occasion, monkeys are just a few examples of the local wildlife that can be seen; jungle cats can even be spotted at night with a little luck. Every afternoon, hundreds of Green Parrots fly over the property from the mountains to the nearby beaches to roost for the night. Although you won't find the diversity that you would find in the national park or in Cabo Matapalo, you will be given an opportunity to experience an authentic Tico countryside setting with the jungle clad mountain foothills soaring from the back of the property, teeming with secondary forest flora and fauna. Pleasant breezes, which come in from the Golfo Dulce over the cow pastures, are almost constant at our property which contributes to the tranquil setting. At Casa Corozal, you will be overtaken by the tranquility and peace that makes our property and the local area so special. Relax in a hammock, or take a dip in our swimming/exercise pool; our house provides a relaxing, comfortable place to wind down after a long, adventurous day on the Osa. There is so much to do on the Osa and Corozal is no exception. If by chance you happened to get a little warm, the Rio Corozal is only a five minute walk away, with its breathtaking canyon walls and swimming holes that can be found up river. Beautiful Playa Cienega is only 5 minutes south by car, the road to Miramar and the local canopy tour is just right around the bend, and best of all, the town of Puerto Jimenez is only 5 minutes up the road.

Casa Corozal sleeps up to 4 people comfortably. The casa has one king size bed in the bedroom and two jungle hammocks with mosquito netting up on the veranda.

As you probably already know, there is just so much to do while down on the Osa that chances are you won't have enough time to do them all. What makes Corozal ideal for your vacation rental is that it is close to everything. Here is a list of some of our/local favorites and the time it takes to get to them from our property.

* Matapalo Wildlife Viewing - only (30 minutes) headed south
* Relaxing on any one of the Osa's many precious beaches - There has got to be at least a dozen that are no more than (1 hour) away
* Kayaking - as close as Playa Cienega or Puerto Jimenez - (5 minutes)
* Horseback Riding - can be arranged to pick you up (in front of the property)
* Surfing at the Cape - only (30 minutes) headed south
* Boogie Boarding out at Plantanares Beach - about ten minutes farther than Puerto Jimenez - (15 minutes)
* Boat Tour around the Golfo Dulce/Whale and Dolphin Watching Tour - departs from the dock in Puerto Jimenez - (5 minutes)
* Sports Fishing - can be found in Puerto Jimenez - (5 minutes)
* Fishing - Playa Cienega or Playa Tamales is one of the many great spots where locals go to fish (5-15 minutes)
* Local Canopy Tour - only (20 minutes) up on the Miramar ridge
* Scuba Diving/Snorkeling - as close as (30 minutes) away
* Wildlife Sanctuary Tour - Twenty minutes up the gulf from Puerto Jimenez
* Corcovado National Park - the southern entrance can be reached in about (3 hours) by car or only 20 minutes by plane from Puerto Jimenez
