Property Description
The WINDHAM COUNTRY HOUSE offers you five lovely bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a great room with kitchen, dining area, billiards table, and entertainment center. Large windows, two porches (one screened), and a deck provide delightful views of Nature's beauty which surrounds the house. All rooms have natural wood floors and unique artwork.

Set on a Vermont country road, the contemporary home was built with pleasure in mind. It is surrounded by the natural beauty for which Vermont is known -- forests, ponds, meadows, and mountains. Add to that, beautiful landscaping around the house with gardens galore in the warmer weather. Inside you can enjoy a variety of activities. The regulations billiards table pleases people of all ages, as does the library of movies, books, music, and games.

The house easily accommodates a party of 10 or more, with beds for 12 when you include the hide-away sofa bed. It is a great place for family gatherings, reunions of friends, and special celebrations. Children love playing outside on the grounds at all times of the year. Your pets are welcomed too!

The house is centrally located with easy access to charming towns like Chester, Grafton, Manchester, and Brattleboro. Throughout the winter, guests ski at Stratton, Bromley and Magic. In the summer, guests enjoy the state parks in Jamaica and Towhshend, as well as Green Mountain National Forest. One of the most popular outdoor activities among guests is walking on Old Cheney Road, where the house is located. With very little car traffic, the road weaves through the countryside. A side road takes you to a breath-taking canyon.

The owners, Michael and Mary, live in the house in a separate unit. They will be there to greet you, to answer any questions you might have during your stay, and to help out should there be an emergency. Michael is a justice of the peace, able to perform marriages and civil unions. Mary is a Reiki master, who can provide treatments that relieve stress and promote healing.
Accommodations
The word used most often by guests to describe the Windham Country House is "beautiful." Here's what one guest had to say: Your home was perfect for us! Everyone from the adults to the grandchildren to Jackie (the dog) had an incredible weekend! Your home is beautiful. The downstairs was so conducive to everyone enjoying each other whether they were in the kitchen, dining room or living area, because it is so open and airy. The bedrooms were comfortable, roomy, and tastefully furnished.... It was so nice having the two of you on-site as you made sure that everything we needed was always available, from answering questions about places to go to putting sand on the driveway to ensure we got our cars out in the snow. One of the other things we loved about your home was that it was somewhat remote, away from traffic and noise, and the hubbub of everyday life. It was, in a word, peaceful.

Activities & Attractions
It's easier to say what you can't do here. No theme amusement parks and no ocean. What is here is the amazing natural beauty of the Green Mountain State. Adding to that beauty are lovely New England villages, looking much as they did a century ago.

If you like to play in the great outdoors, in the winter you can enjoy skiing (downhill and corss-country), snowboarding, snow mobiling, and skating. You can sled on the hill right here at the Windham Country House or build snowmen or snow forts on the property. In summer, the area offers you golfing, swimming, boating, and biking. Any time of year is good for hiking, exploring, and sightseeing.

If you enjoy shopping, you'll find an abundance of antique shops and a wide variety of art galleries, as well as many designer outlet stores. If good music or theater are your thing, there are many choices in the area. For those nights you don't feel like cooking, a short dirve will take you to good restaurants, everything from down-home cooking to four-star cuisine.
